Cold Mix Asphalt QPR-S

Cold Mix Asphalt

QPR-S asphalt mix ready for immediate repair of potholes and trench reinstatements. Applied cold, with no heating — all year round, from −20 °C to +40 °C.

About cold mix asphalt
Cold mix asphalt QPR-S is designed for fast repairs of potholes, trench reinstatements and similar pavement damage over areas of up to 1 m² — all year round, with no heating required. It is a ready-to-use product laid cold straight from the bag, compacted with a shovel and a hand tamper, and the repaired spot is trafficable immediately. It contains no toxic or environmentally harmful additives. It is a temporary repair with a service life of up to 6 months — continuous areas of several m² require hot mix asphalt. We supply it in 25 kg bags and in bulk — for municipalities, technical services, road administrations and contractors.

How to repair a pothole

A quick cold repair — anyone can handle it. All you need is a shovel, a rake and a hand tamper; no special equipment required.

Pothole repair procedure with cold mix asphalt in 8 steps
1
CleaningRemove loose pieces, dust and debris from the pothole.
2
FillingPour the cold mix asphalt into the pothole straight from the bag.
3
Layer 1.5–4 cmCompact a layer of 1.5 to 4 cm by hand or with a mechanical compactor.
4
Layer compactionCompact each layer separately with a tamper or a vibrating plate.
5
Deeper potholesFill potholes deeper than 4 cm in layers. With a road roller you can compact in a single layer.
6
Overfill 1–3 mmThe compacted layer should stand 1 to 3 mm above the surrounding pavement.
7
Below 5 °CAt temperatures below 5 °C, compact in thinner layers of about 2 cm.
8
Drive overFinish compaction by driving over the spot. It is trafficable immediately.

Frequently asked questions

What customers ask most often about cold mix asphalt
Does the pothole have to be dry? Can repairs be done in the rain?
Standing water must be swept out of the pothole and any snow or ice removed. According to the technical data sheet the mix can also be used in adverse weather, at temperatures from −20 to +40 °C.
How do I work with the mix in frost?
At outdoor temperatures below 0 °C the mix must be stored at 15–20 °C for 24 hours before use. The mix being laid should not be colder than +5 °C.
How can I make the repair last longer?
According to the technical data sheet, durability depends mainly on the quality of substrate preparation and compaction. The pothole does not require a primer, but priming with bituminous emulsion or paste improves the durability of the repair — we also supply C60/C65 emulsion.
Where must cold mix not be used?
On continuous areas of several m² — those require hot mix asphalt. Also on spots under extreme load from slow, braking traffic including turning vehicles. Nothing may be added to the mix, and the manufacturer prohibits heating the mix or the repair site with an open flame.
How should the mix be stored and what is the minimum order?
In original undamaged bags in a dry, shaded place, protected from sunlight and fire — shelf life is 12 months from the date of production. A pallet holds 40 bags of 25 kg (1,000 kg); the minimum delivery is 1 pallet.
